We’re Not the Kids We Were Anymore
Updated: Mar 22, 2020
As I drive to yours,
I wonder how it all came to be.
This is the first time,
In a few years.
That we have seen each other,
That isn’t a Birthday or Christmas.
People always say,
Every time you see each other,
It’ll be like no time has passed.
That’s not true.
Every time we see each other,
Your little brother is a little older.
We’re a little wiser,
And the world is a little crueler.
We don’t stay friends because of the kids we were,
But instead because of the adults we have become.
