Watching The World
Updated: Mar 22, 2020
Baileys in hand,
You with a gin in yours.
Sitting on our bench watching the world go by.
I am in my favourite tartan cape,
You have your pink lipstick on.
Pink to make the boys wink,
Or so you say.
Kids run past,
Their parents trailing behind.
A woman jogs by. As a man has his head in his paper,
Walking the opposite way.
Unaware that they are about to collide.
We giggle to ourselves,
As they bumble around.
First both going towards us,
And then both going away from us.
Then with an awkward laugh and a half smile,
They are off again.
As we just sit watching the world go by.
